In “Altered States”, guest artist Marco Brambilla explores the space between dream, memory, and media. Through surreal visuals and soundscapes, the exhibition invites viewers into a fragmented, immersive journey where memory, fantasy, and desire collide.

THE ARTIST

Marco Brambilla (b. 1960, Milan) is a London-based artist known for his elaborate re-contextualizations of popular and found imagery, as well as his pioneering use of digital imaging technologies in video installation and art. Recent public commissions include Nude Descending a Staircase No.3 (2019) at the Oculus in New York, King Size (2023) for the opening of the Sphere in Las Vegas and Approximations of Utopia (Part One) featured across 95 screens in Times Square’s Midnight Moment in 2024.


His collaborations include Marina Abramović’s 7 Deaths of Maria Callas and Cate Blanchett in The Four Temperaments show in Berlin. Brambilla’s work has been exhibited in museums such as MoMA, the New Museum and the Guggenheim, as well as film festivals including the Sundance and Venice Film Festivals.

THE CURATOR

Jérôme Sans is a curator, cultural agitator, and institutional director, internationally recognized for his pioneering and cross-disciplinary approach to building cultural institutions and new ways of linking culture to a wider public experience. His expertise bridges contemporary art with music, design, fashion, and architecture, facilitating a new approach for exploring art beyond traditional exhibition formats.

He co-founded the acclaimed Palais de Tokyo in Paris and has led several major art institutions, including the groundbreaking Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing and LagoAlgo in Mexico City. In parallel, he has curated numerous international exhibitions, biennales, festivals and permanent public art projects, as the Taipei Biennale (2000), the Lyon Biennale (2005), the Noor Riyadh Festival in Saudi Arabia (2023), and Doug Aitken at Borusan Contemporary in Istanbul (2024). He is currently the artistic director of Cookie Factory, a new cultural landmark in Denver, Colorado.
